Calendar of Projects & Activities

We believe that building a more sustainable future starts with strong communities. Through hands-on workshops, intergenerational activities, and community outreach programmes, we engage seniors, students, families, and residents in meaningful conversations and actions around sustainability. From running regular upcycling workshops in THKMC Active Ageing Centres to participating in awareness campaigns, roadshows, and community events, we create opportunities for people of all ages to learn, connect, and contribute towards a more circular and environmentally conscious society.

Stitch & Switch - Beatty Secondary School, Toa Payoh West CC and The Circular Classroom

Beatty Secondary School, Toa Payoh West Community Centre

On 6 June 2026, The Circular Classroom was happy to partner with Beatty Secondary School and Toa Payoh West Community Club for "Stitch & Switch: Transforming Old into Gold", an intergenerational sustainability workshop that brought students and community members together through creativity and purpose. Around 20 participants, comprising Beatty Secondary School students and residents from the community, spent the afternoon learning how pre-loved textiles can be transformed into useful everyday items. Working side by side, they created drawstring bags and coasters while exploring the importance of reducing waste and extending the lifespan of materials through reuse and repurposing. More than just a crafting session, the workshop provided a meaningful opportunity for different generations to connect and to show that with a little creativity and collaboration, old materials can be transformed into something valuable.

Stitching New Stories: Repurposing pre-loved School Uniforms

As part of Go Green SG 2026, The Circular Classroom was delighted to partner for the first time with Tembusu Institute and TaF.tc to deliver a hands-on school uniform repurposing workshop centred on creativity, sustainability, and community action. Hosted at Tembusu Institute’s welcoming learning space at the THYST Centre, the workshop brought together participants who shared a passion for reducing waste and learning practical sustainability skills. While the group was small, it created a wonderful environment for meaningful conversations, peer learning, and hands-on making. Participants discovered how pre-loved school uniforms can be transformed into useful everyday items rather than ending up as waste. Guided by The Circular Classroom team, they learnt simple sewing and repurposing techniques while exploring the role of circular economy practices in reducing textile waste. By turning discarded uniforms into new products, participants experienced first-hand how small actions can contribute to a more sustainable future. A special thank you to Emelyne and the team from Tembusu Institute for their warm hospitality and on-site support throughout the session. We are also grateful to TaF.tc for their partnership in making this Go Green SG initiative possible. Together, we demonstrated that sustainability is not only about reducing waste - it is also about creating, learning, and building community through shared action.

Let's Paint the Town Green

The Circular Classroom was pleased to be part of this year's Let’s Paint The Town Green, a community event that brought residents together to explore simple and practical ways to live more sustainably. Organised by Aljunied Hougang Town Council to bring environmental awareness directly into the heartlands, the event showcased how everyday actions - from reducing waste and recycling correctly to reusing and upcycling materials—can collectively make a positive impact on our environment. Visitors enjoyed a wide range of hands-on activities and interactive exhibits by green partners. They learned about responsible e-waste disposal, textile recycling, creative upcycling techniques, and sustainable lifestyle habits through games, demonstrations, and workshops suitable for all ages. It was inspiring to see families, students, and residents engaging enthusiastically with sustainability topics and discovering that living greener can be both accessible and enjoyable. We thank the organisers for bringing together so many passionate partners and creating a vibrant platform for community learning and action. Creating Awareness for Sustainability Living at Central Singapore Market - Zhongshan Park

The Circular Classroom was pleased to participate in the Central Singapore Market at Zhongshan Park, a community event celebrating local makers, sustainable living, and neighbourhood connections. Throughout the afternoon, we shared how pre-loved school uniforms can be transformed into useful new products, giving textiles a second life while reducing waste. It was wonderful to meet residents, families, and sustainability enthusiasts, and to have meaningful conversations about circular living and responsible consumption. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, supported our work, or donated pre-loved uniforms. Every uniform collected and every conversation shared helps move us one step closer towards a more circular and sustainable future.
