We were happy to collaborate with Bukit Timah Primary School on two engaging sustainability programmes, generously supported by the school's corporate partner organisation EPSON. In our first session, 30 Primary 5 students and EPSON staff members rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on workshop and transformed pre-loved school uniforms into a large Merlion artwork. As they cut, arranged and pieced together fabric scraps, conversations naturally flowed about textile waste, reuse and how everyday items can be given a second life. At a separate morning assembly, we spoke to over 1,000 students about waste reduction and sustainable consumption. Through interactive quizzes and sustainability challenges - with prizes at each level - students reflected on how small actions can make a meaningful difference. During recess after the assembly, the Epson team joined us to host a lively uniform exhibition and sustainability games. Students built tangrams from uniform scraps, estimated the number of buttons collected from donated uniforms, and turned textile recycling into a fun and memorable learning experience. Together, these sessions combined creativity, education and play and empowered students to see sustainability not as a concept, but as something they can practise every day.
